win 2k problem

hi all,

I am a complete newbie to 802.1x.

I have the following setup :

a win 2k machine with 802.1x authentication enabled.
hostapd running on a machine,
a freeradius server.
a DHCP server.

Now, whenever I enable the network device in the windows machine,
it doesn't wait for the authentication to contact the  DHCP server.
An IP is assigned before the authentication dialog pops up.
But shouldn't it be the other way ?

Any help would be appreciated.
