Just Getting Started...

I am just getting started trying to create a linux access point and am 
very excited to setup my wireless network.

What is a good distro to start with? 

Have you guys had better results with one distro over another. 

What is a good wireless card to start with?

If these are already listed in a FAQ please direct me to it's location 
as I have been unable to find it.
