Primary Prism firmware not able to be parsed

I recently got a D-link DWL-520 (Rev. E1) wireless card, and I found a
great tutorial

on setting up this card under linux (I'm running Slackware 10.0).
Everything has worked fine except when I tried to run hostap_fw_load,
I recieved the error:

# hostap_fw_load wlan0
Downloading Primary Firmware /etc/firmware/PM010102.HEX
'/etc/firmware/PM010102.HEX' not readable.
Parsing '/etc/firmware/PM010102.HEX' failed.

This was the primary firmware recommended by the tut, and so it was
odd that it did not work. I re-downloaded this file but still recieved
this error!!
