Prism 2.5 card problems / card locks or something

I have a problem with my Prism-2.5 based PCMCIA card.
Card details:
Prism-2.5 chip 200mw
Product No. : SL-2511CD PLUS EXT2 (E200)
PRI firmware 1.1.1
STA firmware 1.8.0 
(it was PRI 1.1.0 and STA 1.4.9 but I upgraded it)

I've downloaded and installed the latest hostap driver (0.2.4).

The problem is that several minutes after I enable the card (after
ifconfig up) the card seems to power off, or something like that. The
LED on it goes off (when it works for some 3-10 minutes the LED is on
constantly).

I'm attaching two parts of dmesg output, one is when I insert the card
and everythin is fine, the other is when the card dies (this is
truncated because there are a lot of errors before I eject the card).

I've tried both kernels 2.6.8.1 and 2.4.26, same thing happens.
The same thing happened with the other firmware too.

Do I need to use 1.7.4 firmware? (since i'm seeing most people use that)

A similar problem happens with the orinoco_cs driver too, after some
time working, the card seems to use all of the CPU. The computer is
unusable (literally) until I eject the card.

Has anyone had similar experience??

I've not ruled out that it might be some laptop related problem, but I
have a PCMCIA modem that works great for long times (I've never had any
problems with it).
