Disappearing MAC filename in /proc/net/hostap/wlan0

I have observed very strange situation. I have two
stations configured to ad-hoc mode. Sometimes I can
observe other station MAC filename in
/proc/net/hostap/wlan0. Is consists some important
information about actual transmission rate.
Unfortunatelly it disappears from time to time. The
configuration is unchanged and stations sometimes
exchange some data (ping, ftp).
Can anybody provide some explanation of what happens
in HostAP driver?
