Active scan control

I was looking through the source code for the active scan functionality in HostAP and I found this function in hostap_ioctl.c: prism2_ioctl_siwap. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct portion that I should be looking at?
 
In that function, I found scan_req.channel_list and I presume that modifying this value would allow me to instruct the card which channels to scan and which channels to skip. However, I am wondering if there is any way I can modify the scanning behaviour of the card e.g. order of the channels scanned and also the wait period for each channel.
