Question about 'iwconfig wlanX ap' command

No, it is doing exactly what it is expected to do, i.e., not join the AP
automatically if the link gets down for any reason.. You might want to
test with host_roaming=1, which actually allows the firmware to start
scanning if the client gets disassociated.
