HostAP mode in HostAP driver 0.1.3 v/s 0.2.4

The available firmwares are not compatible with the USR card.  I checked
that.  My card has component ID 8002.


I have one more card from Senao, which seems to work fine with both the
driver versions.
What makes me wonder is how the USR card with same firmware changes its
behavior with different driver versions?
