Using hostap with 300mW Zcomax cards

I am trying to use Hostap with 300mW Zcomax cards (STA: V1.4.9). I am
however unable to receive any management frames in the host side.
Specifically I am looking for Beacons from other BSS/IBSS but am not
getting any Beacon frames. It seems the card is operating in a FW AP
mode and so not forwarding management frames to the hostap driver. IDo I
need to set the card into a particular (hostap) mode in order to receive
the management frames?
