This is not clear to me:

I am bridging a wired ethernet connection with a hostap accesspoint just fine.  
All of the wireless machines can talk to the wired machines and visa versa.  
If you are referring to a wired ethernet that is bridged with an hostap 
access point and that hostap access point is connecting to another hostap 
that is bridged with a wired ethernet network I don't know, never tried it.  
But it is unclear from your post what you are referring to.
