host_roaming mode 2 fails ?

Hi all!
We modified the hostap driver to automatically enter host_roaming mode 2 when the card is inserted. This thing works but somtimes, right after the prism2_open, the prism2_close is called, and the mode change fails. See part of dmesg below -

Does anyone know why the card closes right after opening ?
Any help would be appreciated.
