Maximum of how many clients in one interface

Hello,

I would like to know how many wireless (as access
point client) clients can I support from just one WLAN
interface?

What are the factors those effect these numbers? What
happenes when there are too many clients on an
interface?

Would like to hear some real-world stats besides what
the theory says.
