information requested about IEEE 802.11-DS and IEEE 802.11b

Hi to all

I continue with the problem related. As Jouni says, the only way to come
back to an IEEE 802.11b output is resetting my card. But not with the
'iwpriv wlan0 reset 1' command (the output of the iwconfig continues
showing IEEE 802.11-DS). Only with the commands 'crdctl eject' and
'cardctl insert' the output of iwconfig changes to the correct one.

Here you have my 'dmesg' output.

I think the script is not the problem because this change to IEEE
802.11-DS occurs without executing it. It just occurs after a few
seconds (sometimes after a few minutes) without any command being executed.

Having started my hostap in mode 'Managed', I execute my script
manually. It only scans other APs and selects the best channel where
the hostap could give service to clients in mode 'Master'. When the best
channel is obtained, the script executes 'iwconfig wlan0 mode master'
and 'iwconfig wlan0 channel #' to change the hostap behaviour to the
desired one. This scan is repeated every 10 seconds in case there are
changes in other APs.

All works correctly when IEEE 802.11b appears in the iwconfig output and
the hostap starts working in mode 'Master' in the obtained channel. But
when the output is IEEE 802.11-DS, 'iwconfig' commands cannot be
executed ant the channel selection is wrong. too.

The firmware version of my Conceptronic card is 0.7.6

I hope this is the information you have asked for.

Thanks

Oscar
