active and passive scanning mode of client

Hello,


   Is there any function in device driver to set up the active or passive scanning mode of client?


If  the passive mode is enabled ,how the behaviour of card changes?


 


Can anybody tell me how the MAC frame size is arrived to 2312 bytes (in case of WEP) and 2304bytes (without WEP)


which factor restricts the size of MAC frame?
