trouble with Engenius card
Wed Jan 7 16:26:47 PST 2004
I've got an Engenius NL-2511CD PLUS card that seems to see my NetGear
router/AP, but it never achieves an ip address. I compiled the hostap
driver and edited the /etc/pcmcia/config file to load the hostap_cs
driver instead of the orinoco driver and the card is recognized and it
attempts to come up. I even receive the two high beeps which usually
indicates success. But after the two high beeps I have no ip address.
Below is output from cardctl ident:
no product info available
product info: "INTERSIL", "HFA384x/IEEE", "Version 01.02", ""
manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002
function: 6 (network)
Below is output from iwconfig upon performing an /etc/init.d/pcmcia start:
Warning: Driver for device wlan0 has been compiled with version 15
of Wireless Extension, while this program is using version 16.

Notice that the card sees the AP because it lists the correct MAC address.
Upon performing an /etc/init.d/pcmcia start, there are no syslog messages
indicating that a DHCP lease offer was even made. With a wired card
on the same NetGear router/AP there are messages indicating that pump
received a DHCP offer, lease and ip address.
I'm fairly new to wifi and I wonder if someone could offer me some advice
because beyond this I'm not sure where to start digging. Any assistance
is much appreciated.
