Q: RedHat 9 Makefile w/ Latest Stable 0.2.5 hostap

Has anybody had  success building with RH9 and the latest stable release 
(0.2.5)?
I have searched the HostAP old mailing list archives and there seems to 
have been some questions, but no answers as to if  the Makefile would build 
correctly with RH9 out of the box.
When I issue "make", the build exits abnormally at compile time.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?
