Clients statistics

I'm sorry if this a stupid question, but I couldn't find anything on the read 
me file and a "hostap client statistics" search gave me no useful result. I 
need to get some clients stats. I've done this in the past, but can't 
remember how to do it anymore. I know you have to "register" the client MAC 
address in the driver (and that there's a performance penalty for that). My 
idea is to register the client, ping it, get the stats then de-register it. 
Can someone point where is the documentantion for that? Thanks a lot!
