I use MA311 and HostAP exclusively.  On all examples, even those
purchased very recently, the cards have relatively old firmware so I
load firmware version 1.5.6 into the card RAM at boot.  Otherwise no
problems to report.

Be aware that there are other Netgear cards known as MA311+ which are
Texas Instruments (not Prism) based and so will not work with HostAP.
