Did you restart cardmgr after thus?

If you see hostap_cs module in lsmod output, the system is able load it.
However, please do note that PC Card driver are generally not loaded
manually with mobprobe. cardmgr must be configured to map the card CIS
data to use this module. Based on your description, it looks like
pcmcia-cs configuration is still using orinoco_cs and the only thing you
need to change is that configuration. hostap_cs.conf should include the
suitable entries for most cards. If not, please send 'cardctl ident'
output when the card is inserted so that it can be added to the file.
