loss rate statistics

Hi folks,

Is there a way to get link loss rate statistics from the hostap driver
without (significant) modifications?  I.e., I am interested in knowing the
expected number of transmissions required to get a packet from one side of
a link to another (including automatic retransmissions due to no ACK received).

I noticed that the MIT Roofnet project does this.  Have their changes been
merged?  Or is there a relatively easy way to do this?  This seems like a
useful piece of information that should be available by cat'ing

/proc/hostap/wlanX/<mac>

E.g., "ETX: 1.78".
