Posible Bug and some questions

Hi! I?m writing because of a posible bug:
Having hostap loaded with a D-Link 500 (pcmcia in a PCI adaptor) in Managed
mode, and asociated to another hostap in Master mode, with Wavemon 0.4.0b
loaded, I ran:

ifconfig wlan0 down

and then:
cardctl eject

When I stoped the card with the second command, all the system haltes, and
the only solution was a hard reset. I don?t know if this may be a bug in
Hostap or in Wavemon. When I don?t have Wavemon running, I can execute
"cardctl eject" with no problems.

When I looked at the terminal after I realized that my machine was halted, I
saw some Inavlid Wireless Event?s like this:

wlan0 (WE) : Invalid Wireless Event (0x8C03)

On the other hand, having my station in Master mode, with another Hostap
asociated to me (in Managed mode), I get some Invalid Wireless Event like
the above and some errors whe the driver loads. I will paste that part of my
dmesg for you.

And one more thing: I have these version of firmware in my pcmcia:

Is it necesary to update them? What are the advantages?
