hostap and orinoco

You should use HermesAP.  HostAP tries to support non-Intersil firmware,
but only in Managed and Ad-hoc modes, and even that wasn't working
properly last time I tried.

HermesAP, on the other hand, works just fine with Lucent cards, although
it hasn't been ported to the 2.5.x kernels yet, if you are into this sort
of thing :-)
