Hostapd with External PCMCIA

Hi, I installed hostap successfully on my system that uses an external
pcmcia-cs module by copying everything from the driver subdirectory to
pcmcia-cs's modules directory (option 2 in the readme) and then instaling
pcmcia-cs. I want to use hostapd (for XSupplicant and FreeRadius using
EAP/TLS) but the instructions for installing hostapd in README.prism2
discuss how to install if you are using kernel tree PCMCIA modules (make
pccard with flags). Any tips on how to do it with external? Thanks.
