PCMCIA stuff for 2.5.x kernels?

I feel stupid even asking this, but I have come to the conclusion that 
some massive defect in my brain is causing me to continue to be unable 
to find this information elsewhere.

How does one do the equivalent of building the PCMCIA modules package 
for the 2.5.x kernel tree?

 From the looks of it, none of the wireless drivers are in with the 
kernel sources, and the external PCMCIA package blows up early--looking 
for modversions.h

I have googled and gone through the PCMCIA and kernel HOWTOs, and still 
don't know any more than I did before.

Could someone enlighten me?
