Is it possible ???

My understanding (feeble at best) of WDS is that for every packet it has to
receive and then rebroadcast to the head AP.  Won't that inherently halve
the available throughput?  I'm about to add an AP and was considering using
WDS, but had opted not to for this reason.  Is my understanding in error?
