Funny, my machines takes PCI cards, but I have not been able to make my 
bridge run (it gets no interrupt assigned).

I'm not seeing SMP issues since maybe September last year. I got a 
problem during startup related with a highmem problem, but it went off 
using a non-highmem kernel, and vanished fully when I updated to 2.4.21 
enterprise (Mandrake again)
