Prism disabling ACK

Is it possible to tell the prism chipset not to wait for ACK packets?
For exaple, what happens when you want to send a broadcast packet, that
shouldn't get an ACK (in AP mode)?  Does the chip identify these itself,
or is there some way to tell it?

Also, what happens when you tell the chip to have 0 retries?  Does it
still wait for an ACK?  Does it still change backoff?
