How to stop sending beacon frames (relying on hostap to send them) ?

Hi,

Is there a way, in the current implementation of secondary firmware (1.4.9) 
and/or hostap, to completely stop beacon frames tx and to rely on alarm 
interrupt in hostap to send them at regular interval (or not to send them)?

I tried to put 0 then 2^31 in the beacon_int register but beacon interval 
doesn't seem to be able to be greater than 4,2 seconds  !
Why ?
