That is not the main problem.. Lucent WaveLAN does not have a Host AP
mode, so it will not work in Master mode even if you get hostapd
running.

wlan0ap is the interface used for management frames. You have to compile
the kernel driver with PRISM2_HOSTAPD defined to build a version that
can be used with hostapd.
