wlan0 Interface seems to freeze.

Just to confirm the same problem here. My setup is very similar to
yours:

hostap 2002-10-12
kernel 2.4.18
pcmcia-cs 3.2.1
Compaq WL-200 (STA 1.4.9)

Ricoh PCI-PCMCIA adapter + Senao 2511 (STA 1.4.9) instead of WL-200
works just fine for weeks. So it must be something with WL-200s.
