Audio file format using giPlayer 0.51 with get_iplayer 2.99-ppa28 (Linux Mint 18.1)

This is a novice question, I fear.

I use giPlayer as a GUI for get_iplayer and it's been very satisfactory
indeed (both for audio and video). However, with the release of 2.98 I
found that files will not download and convert to MP3 only M4A (AAC)
format. It's not a dreadful problem but I use some kit that struggles a bit
with playing AAC. Is there a solution?
