no luck with mode=hlshd1
but hlsbest does the job
 the combination of modes and shortcuts is quite confusing

there is a 1280x720 25fps mode
use the commandline
 ~/get_iplayer-2.99/get_iplayer --verbose --info --long --type=tv --pid=b08fqs8v

INFO: Found mode hlshd1: (gip_hls_iplayer_2380) hls h264 1280x720 25fps 
2380kbps stream (CDN: akamai_hls_open/10)
