TV Modes Question

Following a reply to an earlier question when running v2.98 I set my 
prefs for tv mode = dvf anticipating a move to dash in future and hoping 
that this would give me HD where available at 1280 x 720 resolution.

I am now running v2.99 but have noticed that the tv programmes recorded 
are showing on my player as standard not HD.

I assume it is time to review my prefs setting and will read the manual 
again.  Meanwhile if anybody can advise a better setting to achieve my 
objective please let me know.
