hello

for a command-line program ffmpeg would be the choice.
numerous tutorials and examples on the internet.

a perl script which wraps around get_iplayer and ffmpeg would be easy
enough to write.

i use ffmpeg and audacity to convert mp3 podcast to m4a/aac files.
