Grr really getting my knickers in a twist here! :-( It seems v2.83 was
installed as get-iplayer, so I've tried uninstalling that too.

But if I do: apt-cache show get-iplayer, I get the following:

Package: get-iplayer

Description-en: download/stream available BBC iPlayer TV and radio
programmes
get_iplayer lists, searches and records BBC iPlayer TV/Radio, BBC Podcast
programmes. Other third-party plugins may be available.
  .
get_iplayer has three modes: recording a complete programme for later
playback, streaming a programme directly to a playback application,
such as mplayer; and as a Personal Video Recorder (PVR), subscribing to
search terms and recording programmes automatically. It can also stream
or record live BBC iPlayer output.

Yet: sudo apt-get autoremove get-iplayer gives me:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package 'get-iplayer' is not installed, so not removed
0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 0 to remove and 96 not to upgrade.

and just to make sure: sudo apt-get autoremove get_iplayer results in:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package get_iplayer

I'm getting more and more bewildered here! :-(
