But Github just hosts code and pages, so this DOS
(https://status.github.com/messages) wouldn't actually affect the
workings of get_iplayer.

As it happens, I use Github daily as well, and I hardly noticed this.
So unless you were downloading a particularly large amount of code at
exactly the wrong time, it shouldn't have made any difference :)
