Running G_iP under Windows, and I expect also under Linux, there's two 
options files; one
is an app (or maybe system)-wide one, and the other is user specific.  
If as a user you've
set options I think they'll be in the user options file, and hence 
unavailable to cron if
it runs under a different user.
