get_iPlayer will soon be obsolete unfortunately.  The BBC is going from the current Flash/ MP4 system to one based on Abobe Premier Pro like Sky Go and is so far uncrackable.  They'll probably be removing the iPhone 3S "loophole" that get_iPlayer relies upon.  (BT Sport uses Silverlight which is a pain in the a**e on Linux).

Not that get iPlayer is particularly easy to use now if you're outside the UK. Possible, yes. Failproof, absolutely not.

The new system is due to start before Christmas (2013? )with the current iPlayer being switched off around Easter (2014?).

I notice that iPlayer now supports Google Android
