A list owner has no responsibility to anybody other than him/herself.
It's their list and it's their rules, take it or leave it.

It's how I run mailing lists, and it's how many other mailing list that
I subscribe to operate.

Can the bleating please stop now, and discussion of technical issues
re-commence?
