 Thanks for your reply dinkypumpkin, but could you please
elaborate a little bit more? Why is it that for a pid in the tv cache,
e.g. b01qj50b, the command:

get_iplayer -i --fields=pid b01qj50b --force

works fine (reveals:
modes:          default: 
flashhigh1,flashhigh2,flashlow1,flashlow2,flashstd1,fla
shstd2,flashvhigh1,flashvhigh2,rtsphigh1,rtsphigh2,rtsplow1,rtsplow2,rtspstd1,rt
spstd2,rtspvhigh1,rtspvhigh2,subtitles1)
without initiating a download?
 If -i was implemented also for PIDs not in the cache, why a similar
behaviour is not to be expected?
