Never mind - I've managed to duplicate this problem.  It appears to be a 
bug in get_iplayer.  I'll update when I have a fix.

For the moment, a workaround is to run:

get_iplayer --type tv,radio --refresh

to first update both tv and radio cache files.  Then run:

get_iplayer --pvr

Bottom line: make sure both caches are up-to-date before running PVR 
searches.
