The same caveat applies to this approach.  As of this writing, ~150 
programmes would be excluded from search results even though a "default" 
version is available.  Unless the OP is gathering statistics of some 
sort, I'm not sure why he would want that.  An example:

get_iplayer --type=tv --long --versions=default[[:punct:]]?$ Countryfile

...no Countryfile.

get_iplayer --type=tv --long --versions=default Countryfile

...and it's back.
