I think the point of the question was to see if it is get_iplayer that
is causing the issue or is it ffmpeg

If you can create a file using the command above from another source
(perhaps another mp3 you have which has not come from get_iplayer) and
test that on your Marantz we may have more info as to why these
particular files don't work
