Thanks for that. Just in case it matters to anyone, that's actually an 
extract from 'Thinking Allowed' not 'Bells on Sunday' ;)

btw, i noticed that it looks like libfaac support is disabled by default 
in ffmpeg HEAD. Is this true and is it relevant?:
