If you're on ubuntu and you have mp4tags, then you've probably installed 
the mpeg4ip-utils package (or similar - that's what it's called on 
Maverick).  If so, you'll have utility called mp4dump which can print 
out a more-or-less readable representation of the MP4 atom tree in a file.
