The eject problem is fixed in Development (aka rawhide).

Until Test 2 is released there is no method to install onto a Mac Mini
via cdrom, you need to use one of the other options (NFS, HTTP, FTP).

Firstboot ran for me after I upgraded to the version in development
and rebooted the Mini.
