repodata for fc3-updates-ppc?

I've just hit the same problem - but how do I tell up2date to use that 
repository? Is it supposed to find out automatically from the 
fc3ppc.repo in /etc/yum.repos.d/? When I run up2date, it shows no 
"channels" and tells me that my system is up to date, which it clearly 
isn't. up2date-config doesn't provide any insight either - do I have to 
change the "Red Hat Network Server" there? But to what?

Actually, it seems to me like up2date wouldn't do what I want to do at 
all, it rather seems to be tied to some commercial service from Red Hat. 
  (But I guess I'm wrong about that, considering your recommendation.)
