Indeed, and distinguishing a firmware crash from other things like
truly latched-up logic seems important, no?  If there's no existing watchdog
facility, then clearly that idea won't work (though it makes me a little
sad).

Fedora's kernels don't include CONFIG_MODULE_FORCE_UNLOAD, so no.
